If you are in need of a quick,  low-supply project: the Fall zentangle Tree is for YOU!  This simple, easy set-up art project is a fun new way to draw and oh-so relaxing!

What is a Zentangle?

Zentangle is a method of drawing that promotes concentration and creativity.  All ages and abilities can try this fun way of drawing. Combining the zentangle method with a tree creates a fun fall piece of art that the whole family can enjoy.

Concentration takes over as your focus on the lines and fill in your project piece by piece. The beauty of this project is that there are no wrong placements; keep adding until it looks right to you.

Supplies:

Paper

Marker

Anything to color with

  1. Draw a line for the trunk
  2. Add a few lines for the trunk
  3. Continue to add lines to the branches
  4. Fill the branches and smaller branches with more lines
  5. Continue adding lines until you are satisfied with the result
  6. Close off the lines to make shapes.  The lines can go from tips to branches, tips to tips – anywhere.  If you find large areas that need to be made smaller, simply add another line!

Keep closing shapes, creating new shapes until  you are satisfied with the way it looks.  You can leave it as-is or color in each shape.

Here are our results, ages 6, 9, and young-at-heart:
