The Book
The Zoey and Sassafras series by Asia Citro is a fun way to learn scientific process. As Zoey uses these processes to solve problems for magical creatures, the reader learns important steps in problem solving and conducting experiments.
Complete with a glossary of the scientific words used throughout the book, these books could easily serve as a guide for your very own experiments to conduct in your home. We have done mold experiments, testing preservatives, and Petri dish cultures while reading this fun series!
How long?
These are quick reads; about an hour to make it all the way through the book. The fun nature mixed with the sprinkled in educational value make these books a winner in our homeschool!
Who should read them?
These books are good reads for children who read on their own or for the family to read together. We do both! My kids enjoy reading the physical books because they love the illustrations and I enjoy listening to them in the car because they provide such great talking points and ideas for experiments.
The first book is about a dragon who loves marshmallows; so be sure to set the mood with some s’mores as you enjoy this fantastic story.
