About

Hello!  My name is Lauren and I’m a homeschooling mother of two!  Homeschooling was never something I planned to do or even considered as an option; but as we neared that kindergarten age it just felt like the right decision for our family.  It has been an amazing journey so far!

I’m a very creative person and love to find fun ways to teach and creative ways to keep the kids entertained screen-free while I hide somewhere eating chocolate.

As most homeschool parents do, I started my initial year of homeschooling trying to do school-at-home; workbooks, curricula and all. My poor kindergartener let me know fairly quickly that our life was not going to work like that! I aim to balance screen time with time in nature, learn history through stories, and play-to-learn whenever possible.

I love Charlotte Mason and Montessori methods, as well as some classical education ideas. I was shocked to find us deep in unschooling at one point and learned so much about that philosophy…it is nothing like I imagined! Unit studies are our favorite along with routine instead of schedule. We love flexibility, but also to have some structure.

With Homeschool Inspirations, I hope to inspire happy days in your homes. I will dive into the different aspects of our eclectic homeschool on the blog so you can easily search and filter by keywords!  And don’t worry, this isn’t Pinterest. I don’t have time to set up the perfect shot; you will get to see messes, failures and all.

P.S. You will not find tips for keeping a clean house or easy dinners on this blog. I’m a homeschooling mom, not Martha Stewart.

So nice to meet you!
